Our Purpose

We aim to help make Abergavenny a greener, more sustainable place by sharing information, supporting local groups, building connections, and running projects that others may not have the capacity to take forward.

Everything we do is focused on creating positive change and raising awareness for the people, communities, and environment in and around Abergavenny.

Our History

Greener Abergavenny formed in early 2023 after seeing similar groups in other towns tackling the challenges of climate-change mitigation and adaptation, biodiversity loss, consumption, and pollution.

We follow in the footsteps of local organisations such as Abergavenny Transition Town and Friends of the Earth.

One of our first ideas was to organise a major town fair — something we successfully delivered in 2023 and again in 2024.

Since then, we have set out our aims and expanded our activities well beyond running the annual fair.
