Fresk Workshops

“Fresk” is an interactive, facilitated workshop activity that encourages discussion about climate change and adaptation.

Following participation in several sessions, we are now planning to run workshops in Abergavenny in 2026, with the aim of introducing them to local secondary schools early in the year.

Collaborations

We are exploring partnerships with the Abergavenny Arts and Writing Festivals, as well as the Food Festival, to deliver sessions, activities, or competitions on green themes at their events.

Last year, we delivered a wide range of events for all ages, with more already in development.

Green Networking

Over 40 organisations attended a networking session to learn more about Greener Abergavenny, share their activities and challenges in a lively “Green Dating” exchange, and to showcase their green credentials.

The session concluded with a prize for the attendee judged to demonstrate the strongest commitment to living a greenlifestyle — a watercolour of Abergavenny and the surrounding landscape by Jeremy Thomas.

Conservation Talks

“Wild Isles – A Conservation Conversation”

Film Screening

Chris and Laura Howard, producers of several episodes of the

BBC Wild Isles series, joined us to discuss the challenges of

creating conservation films that not only inform but inspire

action and community involvement.

"Water is Love"

Isabel Rosa, co-creator of Water is Love, visited from Portugal

to present the film and take questions from a full audience.

This event was delivered in collaboration with CPRW.

A shorter animation, The Water Cycle, is suitable for younger

audiences.

Water is Love and The Water Cycle are suitable for both primary and secondary schools and are supported by a curriculum pack and practical activities.

We hope these will be shown in several local schools and community settings throughout 2026.

Food Festival Collaboration

We hosted a stall and ran a discussion forum in the“Local and Vocal” marquee at the Abergavenny Food Festival. We aim to collaborate again in 2026.

Greener Abergavenny Fair

Our 2023 and 2024 Fairs welcomed more than 50 local and regional groups, with stalls filling Abergavenny Market Hall. Talks, forums, and films on a wide range of green issues took place in the library space above.

Several thousand people attended the fair, demonstrating the community’s strong and growing appetite for information, inspiration, and hands-on involvement.

Stallholders represented a wide spectrum of green-focused activity — including schools, colleges, voluntary groups, churches, businesses, and community organisations.

They offered information, demonstrations, and interactive displays. Storytelling sessions, painting, competitions, and live entertainment contributed to the festival atmosphere.
