Membership Terms and Conditions

1. Membership eligibility
​
Membership of Greener Abergavenny is open to organisations, businesses, and community groups. Membership is not available to individuals.

Membership is offered in two categories:

Affiliate Membership

2. Types of membership
​
Full Members
Full Member organisations may nominate a representative to attend Greener Abergavenny steering meetings and are entitled to one vote on behalf of their organisation when voting is required.
​
Affiliate Members
Affiliate Member organisations may attend steering meetings but do not have voting rights.
Both Full and Affiliate Members are considered part of the wider Greener Abergavenny network and are welcome to engage with its activities, communications, and initiatives.

3. Application and approval
​
Membership applications are made by completing and submitting the Greener Abergavenny membership application form.
All applications are reviewed by the Greener Abergavenny Steering Committee. Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance.
​
Full Membership is typically offered following an invitation from the Steering Committee, based on an assessment of how an organisation’s activities align with and support the aims of Greener Abergavenny.

4. Member expectations

All member organisations are expected to:

Support and align with the aims of Greener Abergavenny

Act in a way that reflects the values of environmental sustainability and community collaboration
-
Where possible, support Greener Abergavenny activities, projects, or events, subject to relevance and available capacity​
Full Members are encouraged to participate in steering meetings and to share relevant Greener Abergavenny information within their own organisations. Affiliate Members may attend meetings if interested and able.

5. Membership administration and fees
​
Membership is acknowledged when receipt of an application is confirmed by email by a representative of Greener Abergavenny.
​
There are currently no annual membership fees. Any future fees would be agreed at a General Meeting.
Member organisations may resign their membership at any time by notifying Greener Abergavenny in writing.
​
6. Aims of Greener Abergavenny
​
The aims of Greener Abergavenny are:
​
a) To raise awareness within the community of the challenges posed by climate change, resource depletion, and biodiversity loss, and the need for a low-carbon, sustainable, and resilient future.
​
b) To promote, encourage, and support education and understanding around these challenges and their impact on everyday life.
​
c) To provide encouragement and practical support, through the actions of member organisations, to enable a rapid transition to a low-carbon and sustainable future.
​
d) To encourage resilient communities and to work with other Transition Towns and community-led initiatives.
​
e) To work, where appropriate, with statutory bodies, local authorities, voluntary organisations, and businesses in pursuit of these aims.
​
f) To establish sub-groups within Greener Abergavenny where helpful to support its activities.
​

7. Constitution
​
These Terms and Conditions are informed by the Greener Abergavenny constitution.
